Simple Tips to Avoid Problems in Network Cabling

Network cabling is not as easy as it sounds. If you don't have the required knowledge as well as skills with you, the mistakes that you commit might damage your entire system. Even if you are having an experienced team of technicians with you, facing such a diverse set of technologies there are high chances that some unhappy pairings of faulty connections may bring down the entire system. The following are some of the things that you should in data cabling service.
- It's true that cost plays an important factor while installing a new cabling system but one should never install anything below the quality level of CAT5e. You need to also consider the future applications and make provisions for suitable upgrades in future. CAT 6 may also be considered as a great option in this regard.
- Avoid using different cables for data and voice. Many installation services adopt a separate cable laying policy for data and voice cabling. Generally the data is given a superior, expensive cabling, whereas voice cabling is a cheaper one. However, VoIP has allowed the integration of the voice into data level cabling and thus has made things easier. VoiP comes with an in-built Ethernet switch which can easily latch to almost any existing data cable and thus can reduce the installation cost.
- Avoid putting data cables and electrical cables together. The twisted pairs of the wires generate a magnetic field when a low voltage runs across them. However, when the unshielded cabling is laid along with the electrical cable, all the communication is affected by the magnetic field. This adversely affects the transmission and reduces the rates to rotation speed. This happen when the cables run parallel to each other. If you cannot avoid this situation then you should lay them at a perpendicular angle to each other.
- You should also avoid laying data cabling service as much as you can. The Ethernet switches are a great invention but they can be easily misused. Many times people add switches whenever they require a few extra ports. You should be cautioned when using this route as the Ethernet switch can cause a lot of instability even if you have a well devised network. This is true when a service requires a wide network resource. Thus, you should save yourself from this hassle and just run the cables.
